  6. PICK-UP is a utility program, written completely in SALT,
  7. designed to enhance your time spent using Telix.  PICK-UP
  8. accomplishes this task with a full featured menu which
  9. anticipates your needs.  The options offered allow you to
  10. stay within the Telix environment minimizing the need to
  11. shell out to DOS.  As a result, your Telix sessions will be
  12. more productive saving you keystrokes, time and money.
  13.  
  14. Using PICK-UP you can:
  15.  
  16.         * Perform the most commonly used DOS commands
  17.         * Write, edit and print text/script files
  18.         * Run and/or Compile SALT/SIMPLE scripts
  19.         * Set a "timer" to run a script at a specified time
  20.         * Upload files and messages
  21.         * Load or change to a different Dialing directory
  22.         * Set a timed delay to start screen saver
  23.  
  24. PICK-UP is configurable, meaning you can set it up to match
  25. your particular needs.  You determine how you want PICK-UP
  26. to work for you and save the setup for future sessions.

  28. PICK-UP offers three modes to work in:
  29.  
  30.       * REGULAR - for all files
  31.       * SCRIPT  - for SALT (.SLT .SLC) and SIMPLE (.SIM) files
  32.       * MESSAGE - for .MSG files
  33.  
  34. REGULAR mode is useful for performing general housekeeping
  35. functions, helping you keep your files in order.  This mode
  36. is also used for uploading files.

  38. SCRIPT mode makes the job of writing, compiling and running
  39. SALT/SIMPLE scripts a breeze.  In SCRIPT mode you can quickly
  40. jump out of your editor, compile the script, run the script
  41. and return to the editor to make changes or continue coding.

  43. MESSAGE mode is for writing and sending messages. PICK-UP
  44. makes it easy to write your messages offline and then
  45. upload them quickly when you are online saving you connect
  46. time on the BBS and possibly long distance charges.
